This dress is truly something special that will be in my closet forever. Hailing from India, it’s made from hand-dyed cotton silk. If you take a close look, you can see the animals that have been hand-stitched throughout the dress. These subtle embroidered details represent all the endangered animals found throughout India.
The dress’ designer, Maku, creates skillfully woven garments that promote the historic craft practices of India. Each item is dyed with Indian dye that comes with a 5000-year heritage and each item is woven by skilled hand-weavers on khadi, muslin and jamdani fabrics.
