5 Beauty Regimes To Begin While You’re Stuck At Home
Being stuck at home doesn't mean sacrificing the spa! Here are my top 5 beauty musts to do while you're hunkered down in quarantine.
First on the list, invest in a robe you love. This will upgrade any at-home routine to being at least spa-adjacent. My favorite robe is this one by Edith Hour. Each Edith Hour robe is made in small batches in Houston, TX. I especially love it because it is a woman-owned and founded business. To make each robe extra special, you can add your own custom phrase or monogram to the lapel in a range of colors! (Of course, I chose All Dunn Up so I’m shamelessly plugging my site even at home.) The line has many adorable colors to choose from, but y’all know I’m a sucker for light blue!
If you haven’t done this yet… get ready to have your life changed. The name of the game is DERMAPLANING! Yes, it is fully a fancy word for shaving your face… and it is awesome.
First, no, you will not grow a beard. Dermaplaning does not alter the way or speed in which your facial hair grows at all. Trust me, I do this and have done this for months! All dermaplaning does is remove the “peach fuzz” and dead skin cells that are hanging out on your face. I use these dermaplaning sticks that are super cheap and reusable. Your skincare will go much further as the products won’t be sitting on top of a layer of dead skin cells and hair. Plus your makeup will go on easier and smoother. Have I convinced you yet?
I felt like a true skincare expert when I tried at-home micro-needling.
I felt like a true skincare expert when I tried at-home micro-needling. It sounds way scarier than it is! All you need is this little tool called a dermaroller that is super easy to use and not wildly abrasive. It essentially is a roller ball of tiny little spikes that you roll back and forth over your face to create teeny tiny punctures on your skin. These tiny punctures signal to your skin to produce more collagen, which leads to more firm and supple skin. Using a dermaroller once a month can help with acne scarring, fine lines, and dark spots. I’ve used mine for a few months now and it has made a huge difference.
Finally, I think this is a great time to find an at-home peel that works for you. A peel you love (and that works!) is something every person should have in their arsenal. They slough off tired, dull skin cells and stimulate fresh healthy skin, allowing for accelerated cell turnover and the stimulation of collagen-making cells. Here are my top picks:
This one by The Ordinary is the holy grail (and under $8!). Philosophy makes a great one, too, that’s packs a punch with lots of Vitamin C. This one by Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare is an old standby that’s wonderful, too!
Let me know if you try any of these out and how it works for you!
